Breeding Programme

All ACT dogs are from our own breeding programme.

All adults and puppies are micro-chipped before entry into the programme so that information in relation to each individual adult/puppy can be traced and recorded giving us valuable information as to the progress of each animal.

Great care and attention is taken in relation to the selection of breeding females and any potential sires, all of the dogs used in our breeding programme have to be able to pass the selection criteria as for all candidates offered for sale and we are looking at working drive, problem solving ability, temperament and trainability coupled with a first class veterinary examination of the animal's hips and front elbows.

From the age of 8 weeks the puppies are then monitored until we have candidates that will make top quality detection dogs at 10-12 months and puppies are taken out of our programme should they not meet our exacting standards.

All of our potential candidates are subjected to unfamiliar places and environments and have to be able to cope with urban situations and perform to a very high standard.

Labradors, English Springers and Cocker Spaniels are the breeds focused on at ACT.
